What is the Rheocasting Masterclass about?

It all started right at the beginning of Casting-Campus. The on-site Rheocasting workshops are a great success. However, these workshops are limited to companies that want to train entire departments. In the picture, you can see the group from one of the Bühler Tech-Center in Uzwil, together with Bühler and Chem-Trend.

The Rheocasting Masterclass originated from the growing interest in semi-solid casting globally, where I adapted the content to fit the online world. One of the biggest challenges for participants in the on-site workshops is the high mental workload associated with the vast amount of information presented during the whole day.

This is where I combined my knowledge of semi-solid casting with my experience teaching materials science at the university. I have split it up into six webinars, which will be a combination of teaching knowledge and interactive processing of the thought information. So, let’s dive into the content of the webinars.

What will be the Content of the Webinars?

It starts with the kick-off, which defines the typical terms and gives an overview of the Semi-Solid methods. It also covers many misconceptions about Rheocasting.
The second webinar dives into alloys. How do they work, and how do they solidify, which is the key to understanding semi-solid casting?
The third and fourth webinars are about Rheocasting. The flow behaviour and solidification behaviour of a slurry. It illustrates the impact of the solid fraction on casting quality, and we examine the most common Rheocasting processes. It also shows what tool changes are needed for the perfect casting.
The fifth webinar focuses on the applications of Rheocasting and the advantages it offers, including securing new properties and business opportunities.
And the sixth webinar is about how to get started with Rheocasting. What are the changes that need to be made, and how does business development work using Rheocasting?

In summary, these webinars guide you from a beginner’s understanding to an expert’s understanding of the Rheocasting process throughout these six webinars. There is also enough time to ask questions.
