The Perfect is standing in the way of the Good Enough
Looking at the classical OEM platform cycle, approx. every seven years, there is a chance to do something new with a platform refresh. If you have that limited opportunity, you have to shoot for perfection, as there is no room for continuous improvement. Tesla does things differently. They constantly innovate their products to deliver better products to their customers. They think outside the box and the rule book. With that approach, you can change anything on the fly, and the cost advantages of intelligent solutions are passed on to the consumer.
