The Culture lets the big Foundry Groups fail

Being aggressive towards timelines and part quality is key to being a successful supplier to Tesla. Instead of 3-year SOP phases, you have maybe 6 to 8 months to deliver the first product. Waiting for a board meeting in 3 months to decide is not feasible for fast-paced customers like Tesla or the Telecom industry. So, the challenge is behind every corner, but rapid growth is the reward if you adapt. You have the advantage here as a smaller foundry, so take it!

This snippet is from our eleventh Gold Nugget, “Tesla – The old Newcomer with Pranay Verma”, of the Goldcasting podcast. In this episode, we discuss the hottest car brand, Tesla. One spoiler right at the beginning: we´re not talking about the Tesla Gigacasting. But we touch base on Tesla’s sourcing strategy. If you are a foundry eager to grow, listen carefully; there are a lot of insights into how to become a trusted supplier. We talk about why having a mission is critical to giving the customer additional value. You can learn why things have to be different for EVs.

We give you our insight into where Industry 4.0 has to go and how this affects quality management as we know it. To wrap it up, we discuss the value people with different backgrounds bring to the foundry world.
