Thank You, Staffan, for Three Years of Goldcasting

After 76 episodes, more than three years, and countless conversations about the future of the casting industry, one chapter of the Goldcasting Podcast is coming to an end. Staffan has decided to step away from the podcast. While that is certainly a big change, it is also a good opportunity to reflect on what we have built together.

When we started the Goldcasting Podcast, we simply felt that our industry deserved better conversations. There were conferences, presentations, and technical papers. Still, there are very few places where people openly discuss where the foundry industry is heading, why certain technologies matter, and how companies can prepare for the future. So we decided to create one ourselves.

From an Idea to a Community

Looking back, it is incredible how far the podcast has come. We honestly thought that reaching one hundred listeners in total would already be a success. Instead, the Goldcasting Podcast grew into one of the largest independent platforms dedicated to the global die-casting industry. Today, it has generated more than 215,000 YouTube views, thousands of podcast downloads across streaming platforms, and a growing community following the discussions through LinkedIn, our newsletters, and the Casting-Campus website.

What makes me even happier than the numbers are the conversations that followed. Meeting listeners at Euroguss, China Diecasting, Alucast, GIFA, and many conferences, discussing previous episodes, hearing how a particular interview helped solve a problem, or being asked for a selfie showed us that the podcast had become much more than a collection of videos. It became a community.

Learning Along the Way

The podcast certainly did not start at that level. The first recordings were rough. Several episodes never even made it online because they simply were not good enough. We experimented with microphones, cameras, editing, and formats before we finally found a workflow that worked.

Even the first published episodes are very different from what the podcast became later. But that was part of the journey. Every episode taught us something new, and over time the production quality improved, the conversations became more focused, and the guest list continued to grow.

That development mirrors the casting industry itself. You rarely get everything right on the first shot. You improve, learn from “mistakes”, and keep moving forward.

More Than Technology

Although many people discovered the podcast through topics such as gigacasting, Rheocasting, or process technology, the conversations quickly became much broader. We spoke about leadership, recruiting, business development, digital marketing, AI, new markets and the changing role of foundries.

One message kept appearing throughout almost every episode. The future of the foundry industry will not be decided by machines alone. Technical excellence remains essential, but it is no longer enough. Foundries need to educate customers, support product development, and actively create new business instead of waiting for RFQs to arrive.

Looking back today, many of the discussions we had during the first years have become reality. The automotive industry has become more challenging, while entirely new industries are emerging in robotics, AI infrastructure, energy storage, and advanced electronics.

These companies need casting expertise, but many of them do not yet know it. Helping them discover what casting can achieve has become one of the biggest opportunities for our industry.

Thank You for Challenging the Industry

One of Staffan’s greatest strengths was always his willingness to challenge established thinking and rant about it. Whether we discussed leadership, gigacasting or market development, he consistently asked uncomfortable but important questions.

Are foundries too dependent on automotive? Do companies have the right people in leadership positions? Should they continue doing what worked ten years ago, or should they build entirely new capabilities? Those discussions often became some of our most memorable episodes because they encouraged people to think beyond today’s production challenges.

The podcast was never about predicting the future. It was about preparing for it.

Thank You to Everyone Who Made it Possible

Of course, two hosts alone do not create a successful podcast. First, we would like to thank every guest who shared their experience and expertise over the past three years. Every conversation required preparation, openness, and the willingness to share valuable knowledge with the wider industry.

We also want to thank the companies that supported the podcast as sponsors. Their support allowed us to improve the production quality and continue investing in better equipment and new ideas.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who listened. Whether you watched every episode, discovered us only recently, left a comment, suggested a guest, or simply stopped us at a trade fair to say hello; you helped shape the Goldcasting Podcast.

Every message, every handshake and every conversation reminded us why creating educational content for the casting industry matters.

Thank You, Staffan

Finally, I want to thank Staffan personally. Without your curiosity, experience and willingness to explore new ideas, the Goldcasting Podcast would never have become what it is today.

Over the past three years we discussed technologies, challenged each other’s ideas, travelled to events, recorded countless hours of conversations and, somewhere along the way, built a genuine friendship. That is probably the most valuable outcome of this entire journey.

Thank you for every episode, every discussion and every idea that pushed the podcast forward. You helped create something that has become part of the global casting community, and that contribution will remain long after your final episode.

The Goldcasting Podcast now enters a new chapter. But before looking ahead, it is worth saying one more time: Thank you, Staffan!
