Staffan Zetterström and Fabian Niklas attended the S2P conference in Brescia at the beginning of September. It is the conference on semi-solid research. Staffan talked about the venting of tools, and Fabian presented a market study for new Rheocasting series production applications. In our Gold Nugget, we talk about our findings from the conference and from countless talks with participants.

The whole product spectrum of an HPDC foundry is changing. Smaller foundries face serious challenges. Yet, basically, no foundries attended the conference. Where were they? Is an academic conference the wrong environment? Would an industrial summit be a better room for exchange?

Another point is that AI will enter the foundry world in a few years. So many people are working on it. The early results are fascinating.
