For what should you hire a Consultant?
Aren’t consultants just PowerPoint slides pooping people flying in for a crazy hourly rate and leaving before the consequences of the slides are measurable?
If hiring a consultant feels like that, you might have considered the wrong kind of people. There is a valid and economic reason to hire consultants for your company.
Let’s focus on technical consultants. They will bring information, best practices, and their own experiences to your company on a silver platter. Could you acquire these insights yourself? Sure, probably. But in what timeframe and at what cost?
You want to try a new process or complex part and plan a casting trial for one week. A large DCM costs you about 350 CHF/h, including a worker. Adding the engineers designing and running the trials is for two or three people, another 300 CHF/h. It takes them one week to prepare, one to do the test, and another to get the results. No alloy is fractured yet; there are no additional testing costs, and we are already at an hourly rate of the running trial of 1250 to 1550 CHF per hour (three weeks compressed into one plus the DCM). You still don’t know if you need additional loops. A consulting rate of 150 to 200 CHF/h seems relatively cheap now. Doesn’t it?
Still, by working with a consultant, you must also add internal hours. You need to plan the outsourced workload and ensure the knowledge transfer to your company happens.
One of the biggest hurdles to hiring a consultant is the unpredictability of costs. As a consultant, you earn more money the more time you need to complete your tasks. As the hiring company, you want the results as quickly as possible. So, there is a misalignment of interests, which causes a lot of friction.
That doesn’t happen with me as your consultant. I took away the friction and the misalignment of interests. If you hire Casting-Campus, you pay me a flat monthly fee. You can find more information on by following the links to the Rheocasting Expert on Demand and the Casting Expert on Demand.
It is the Netflix of knowledge, starring me as the casting expert on-demand. So, we have the same interests. I want to give you the best solutions quickly while maintaining the highest quality levels. In addition, you have the exact predictability of your project costs. It is a perfect match. If I don’t deliver the expected quality, you will cancel the service. And I want to have a long partnership that accelerates your success.
But even as a Netflix subscriber, you must pay for their studio tour. It is the same for my business model. If you want to have me on site for a casting trial, a workshop, and/or a training session, I have to charge for that additionally. But as a partner, you get a discounted rate.
You already have a project that involves Rheocasting, HPDC and/or sustainability. Schedule a free Consultation Call today, and let’s discuss this in more detail. I’m looking forward to starting to work together.
